HOW TO PLAY

START HERE

Tap a pad, or use keys 1–9 without changing the selected pad. Press Space to start or stop. The first time YouTube asks, press play inside the video once to unlock sound.

GET SOUNDS

ALL searches broadly. OPEN prioritizes Creative Commons and public-domain leads. RAW looks for rehearsals, lessons, home recordings and human accidents. ARCHIVE digs through old performances, field recordings and historical material. OPEN is a reuse signal, not a legal guarantee; RAW and ARCHIVE describe the source, not its rights. One video spreads nine moments from one source; All different finds nine independent videos.

CAPTURE AND SHAPE

Random first cues metadata; it does not start nine media streams. A YouTube pad requests media when you play or seek it. In desktop Chrome or Edge, moving any grey Pad FX control asks for one tab-audio capture, records raw PCM against the YouTube playhead, then immediately applies the effect. After capture, that pad plays from its browser-local buffer and stops using YouTube until you switch FX off. The same IN/OUT and Fine Start controls trim the buffer to 1 ms; FILTER / EQ LOW shape the pad tone, PHASER adds swept all-pass motion, and 1 BAR STRETCH fits it to the current grid length. ALL PADS DURATION at the bottom sets every fragment to 2, 4 or 8 seconds before you re-crop. Safari and Firefox currently return screen video without the tab-audio track RND/9 needs; use a captured project or load MP3/WAV with ↥ there.

GRID, PATTERNS AND CHAIN

The bright cyan GRID / SEQUENCER button is always at the top. The sequencer plays only A by default. B copies A only the first time it appears, then keeps its own edits. Drag the A button onto B whenever you explicitly want to overwrite B. Build any order with +A / +B; repeated blocks collapse into musical shorthand, so ABAABB reads AB2A2B. Choose a 16-step 4/4, 14-step 7/8 or 10-step 10/8 cycle beside the chain. Drag any active square across pad tracks to move every lock together; hold Shift while dropping to copy it. CLEAR erases only the open bank; ` / Ё switches A/B and Tab opens or closes the grid.

TRIG CONDITIONS

Open the yellow TRIG gateway for ALL, FILL, PRE, NEI, FIRST and every pass division from 1:2 to 8:8. Ratio buttons are multi-select: combine 1:2, 3:4, 5:5 and more; the step plays whenever any selected ratio matches. PROB sits beside the conditions, followed by RND TIME, RND PAD and step REV. REV RND chooses forward or reversed direction again on every hit. On YouTube, RND TIME chooses a new timestamp; after FX capture it chooses a new start point inside the rendered trim, like a random START lock. Drag a trigger across any pad row to move all its values, or hold SHIFT while dropping to copy it.

LOCK AND MODULATE

FX LOCKS are open in the grid by default. SLICE sits before VOL; FILTER follows PITCH, with EQ LOW beside it. GRANULAR opens mix, size and scatter, GRAINSTORM follows it, and PHASER has its own lock. Moving any step-FX on an uncaptured YouTube pad starts its one-time FX capture and keeps the lock you chose. Press a large RND button to choose RND every hit, LFO ×2, ×4, ×6, ×8, or OFF; clicking anywhere outside closes the menu. RND FX1 / RND FX2 on each pad fills the corresponding effect row with safe random movement on every active trigger. Cells show only conditions plus compact FX, RND and LFO flags. Global SWING offsets alternating 16ths and starts at 0% for straight timing.

SAVE OR EXPORT

OPEN / SAVE live together in the permanent top bar and show the current project name. OPEN PAD / SAVE PAD sit together under the selected pad editor. At the far left of the bottom dock, the blue-green ALL PADS DURATION section changes every fragment length; the separate MASTER section holds volume and smooth compression. Open EXPORT in the top bar to choose 1, 2, 4, 8 or 16 bars and MP3 or WAV. This is a live master bounce: the pattern plays and you can move Pad FX while it records. Right-click any pad MUTE or SOLO to clear that state from all nine pads.

PLAY IT LIKE KEYS

Click a pad to select it. Q through \ play the upper chromatic row; Z through , play the octave below. Turn SLICE on and the Q row plays transient slices instead. REC writes notes or slices into the nearest step and preserves your early/late microtiming up to ±50 ms. Number keys always trigger pads 1–9; Shift holds Fill, Tab toggles the grid, and ` / Ё cycles A/B.
